The Final Sign-Off for WMMM 1260 AM - Monday, September 15, 1997

The last day of broadcasting for WMMM as a commercial broadcast station under the ownership of Minuteman Broadcasting was Monday, September 15, 1997. Among the attendees were the news crew of Cablevision's News 12 Connecticut, who reported about the station on their evening newscast.

With footage supplied by News 12 Connecticut, we thank Cablevision for allowing us to post the news story that aired on their newscast of September 15, 1997 about the Graham's donating WMMM-AM to Sacred Heart University's WSHU Public Radio Group.

It is interesting to note that between 1 min 18 seconds to 1 minute 23 seconds the report inadvertently shows the microwave tower belonging to AT&T. The two 197 foot WMMM towers can be seen to the right of larger tower between 1 minute 24 seconds to 1 minute 27 seconds. WSHU Radio has since lost the lease for the former tower property (which now has condominiums on it) and currently operates under a Special Temporary Authorization using a long wire antenna mounted on the AT&T tower.
